How much is 7mm of rain in terms of what it feels like to a person?

I will be visiting a place in August that typically has no rain, but some days up to 7mm in a single day . I don't really speak metric, nor think much about rain. Is that a lot? Will I need a light jacket, an umbrella, nothing? Can I go hiking and swimming there or will it be better to stay indoors?
